Servant leadership is a type of leadership that all ScrumMasters should practice when being effective within their teams. According to the “Virtues of Leadership”, Larry C Spears identifies 10 characteristics of servant leadership based on the famous Greenleaf’s original writings. Amongst these 10 characteristics, there is one that is most critical but not normally thought of when SMs are in the day-to-day within their teams. Come hear about how one person’s use of this characteristic aided in better relationships and collaboration with the development team and Product Owner.
After this session, participants will walk away with a clearer understanding on the impact one can have with their teams through honing the muscle of this particular practice. This session is for anyone looking to better connect with members on their team and building better relationships which will ultimately make you a better servant leader. Participants will also learn tactical ways to engage with the Product Owner and be a resource to not only the development team, but the Team Lead. Be prepared to come to this class with an open mind as we will explore the perspective of others, not just what you believe to be true (Hint Hint). This is a session you don’t want to miss!
